If you click on the photo to enlarge it, you can actually see the small dots that are tents at Camp 3. The trail up to the fixed lined heads up and left from camp and is just visible in the larger image.

Dear Steve, what an amazing experience you are having. I bet the views are fantastic up there. Tom says " you are very clever to climb that high, are you going to slide back down?!" Well Done! We have had fun following your progress and can't wait to see you in person very soon. loads of hugs from Lesley, Jess and Tom xxx
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to the whole summit team. Your achievements mean so much to so many people who have been following the expedition.
ReplyDeleteGiles and Steve - you have shown great courage, and deciding to turn back must have been an incredibly tough decision to make, but undoubtedly the right one.
Hope your frozen fingers don't stop you from holding a beer glass!
Steve, I've been following your trip. Congrats on your climb - impressive (and lots of effort training) just getting there. I make an attempt on 6/23. I'll try and catch you in Talkeentna to get any tips. If you have time give me a call when you hit Talkeentna or Anchorage. Hope to connect.

Kevin,Steve,Giles,Dave and Jacob- Congratulations! After getting a different view of the mountain I can't believe the effort it would take just to get to Camp 3.You guys are awesome. Thanks for letting share your experience through this site and hopefully we didn't lessen your experience with our fly over.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great opportunity it was to be able to fly around the mountain and see all the climbers and the different camps. At that point we had 3 generations up there (but 2 were cheaters in the plane!)
-very humbling.
